(LHASA, May 10) -- After a year of construction and prep work, the Mount Qomolangma Museum is almost ready to open its doors to the public.

The Mount Qomolangma Museum is located within the confines of the Tibet Mountaineering School campus. According to Xinhua, its 200 square kilometer area is home to over 260 valuable photographs and 300 some artifacts

A realistic model of the Himalayan Mountains captures visitors' eyes upon entrance to the exhibition hall. This is surrounded by information introducing the Himalayan region, including its flora and fauna, legends, and the culture of the area's traditional residents. Also on display are details about foreign activities involving Mount Qomolangma and the history of Chinese mountaineering expeditions, along with plenty of other information.

Museum representative Zhao Yibing told reporters that the information at the museum stems from the very first time that humans climbed Mount Qomolangma in 1953. Focusing on the legacy left by Chinese mountaineers, the museums seeks to help others better understand Mount Qomolangma.

Needless to say, the recent successful mountaineering expedition made with the Olympic flame to the summit of Mount Qomolangma will be a part of the museum. 30 experts that took part in the trip have ties with the Tibet Mountaineering School. Some of the pictures and equipment used for the climb will be collected for display in the museum.
