Chola Pass is about 5100 meters above sea level. On a clear day, the panoramic view allows one to see the peaks of Mount Makarluh, Mount Qomolangma and Mount Cho Oyu, which are around 8000 meters tall. Thin clouds line the mountains like flags against a blue backdrop. The ring of clouds around Mount Qomolangma, which stands at 7790 meters, looks like a Khatag, a ceremonial Tibetan scarf, slightly obscuring Mount Lhotse, which sits behind.
